My parents passed on to me very sound values: perseverance, courage, determination, but above all, the meaning of work. When my father passed away, I decided to follow apprenticeship as a cook. I started out at the Hotel Saint Georges, then, acquiring L'Aïda became a possibility. A boarding house that, at the time, only had 15 beds and just one bathroom. It has changed a lot since then!
I am very moved, and I also feel rather proud. I spent over 10 years thinking about the evolution of L’Aïda. And it's still not finished… But I now let my daughters handle things.
I don't do anything anymore (laughing). In fact, the most important thing for myself is to have succeeded in passing on to them the importance of the family. Success never interested me. What counts is to remain united, help each other, and achieve fulfilment through challenging new projects.
I have always loved wood. When we acquired L’Aïda, Le Pas de l’Ours and L’Étrier, we wanted to restore the original rooms to their former stylishness. It was also a way of preserving Crans-Montana's heritage. Since then, I have had a carpentry workshop with which I restore certain pieces to be re-used in our hotels.
