L'Aïda is above all a wonderful family affair. Acquired, renovated, and initially run by Armand Bestenhelder and his wife, the hotel has evolved to become a 5-star Relais & Châteaux. While Dad keeps an expert eye on the residence's restoration, his daughter, Séverine Bestenheider-Reynaud, is henceforth at the helm. Together, they joined forces to bring this former boarding house built in 1906 back to life in a new light. And it took seven long years of work to achieve Mr. Bestenheider's plans and express the owner's vision by creating an unparalleled world enhanced by refined decor.
The result is beyond all expectations. It is hard not to be overwhelmed by the total peace and quiet that elates you as soon as you step inside the hotel, giving a glimpse of part of the well-being area with its sumptuous pool. The effect is instantaneous, setting the tone for the unique experience offered by this exceptional "for adults only" hotel.
Brightness and voluptuousness for a refined interior
Between tradition and modernity, the 18 spacious rooms and suites have all been revamped down to the very last detail. Each one stands out for its finesse. Carefully restored, their traditional woodwork is subtly set off by recycled materials from local craftsmen and contemporary furnishings signed by renowned manufacturers. Colors are soft, materials delicate, all making for a warm atmosphere conducive to rest and relaxation.
All the rooms benefit from walk-in closets and picture windows opening out to a vast terrace facing due south. You cannot help but be captivated by the unimpeded view of the valley and Swiss Alps. Your sense of escapism continues in the huge 300 sq.m spa at the edge of one of the two swimming pools, in the sauna, jacuzzi, and hammam.
In the evening, a vibrant, trendy ambiance reigns in the bar. Your delight and enjoyment are then guaranteed in one of the restaurants (La Terrasse or Le Partage) where renowned Chef Franck Reynaud adds his innovative touch to local flavors and fragrances.
